The Student Loans Company has become the latest organisation to do away with their costly 0845 numbers and introduce lower cost 0300 numbers.
As of Monday 31st, SLC has switched all of its customer service numbers to 0300 so that callers will never have to pay more than the cost of a call to an 01 or 02 number regardless of whether they call from a mobile or a landline.
It is estimated that SLC receives around seven million calls every year and has over five million customers, including current students, sponsors and former students repaying their loans.
Student Finance Wales and Student Finance Northern Ireland have already introduced the 0300 numbers and have seen a great response from those now able to call at a cheaper rate.
